The Preparatory Department of The Wallace High School is a co-educational, non-denominational, single stream primary school. When your child comes to this school we will do our best to ensure their happiness and educate them to their full potential.

The full new Northern Ireland curriculum is taught and we encourage our pupils to achieve academic excellence. The majority of our pupils progress to the grammar school at the end of Key Stage 2.

We also consider the physical and cultural development of our children to be very important. To that end sport, music, dance, drama, information and communication technology, art and crafts all play a part in the school week.

Your Child’s Education

At the Wallace High School Preparatory Department we aim to achieve academic success within a caring, supportive environment, We offer a broad range of activities and aim to ensure that your children achieve their full potential.

In Northern Ireland we currently have an unregulated system of transfer with the tests set by AQE. The Prep will ensure that the children continue to receive high quality education and parents are informed of any developments as they occur.

An after school class has now started for those P6/P7 pupils who wish to avail of it and is proving a great success.

Admission Criteria

The Trustees welcome application for admission to the Preparatory Department. In the event that there are more applicants than the number of available places, the preference for admission will be given in the following order:

1. Pupils who have a brother or sister enrolled in the Preparatory Department.
2.Pupils whose twin or triplet sibling(s) has (have) been admitted.
3. Pupils whose parent(s) is/are currently in permanent employment in The Wallace High School.
4. Pupils who have a brother or sister who attend The Wallace High School.
5. Pupils who have a parent who was a pupil of The Wallace High School.
6. All other pupils.
