Summer BBQ & PTA Events

Written by | News

The PTA is busy organising the last two events of the year, which will be the summer barbeque on Friday 12th June and the AGM on the 15th June. Our chair person Gillian Megaw has been in function for a year and will give an insight into our achievements of the last year. The outgoing treasurer Jen Guiney will talk us through the financial details.

Parents and teachers are strongly encouraged to come along to this meeting, which will start at 7pm in the lecture theatre on the first floor. It should all be over in about half an hour and will be followed by tea & buns. This will be an excellent opportunity to cement the relationship between school and home.

The Summer BBQ is our last big event before we take a summer break. It starts with a free drinks reception, then a great barbeque and live music from Nice Guy Eddie plus a disco to keep us going until 1am. There are tables for 4 to 20+ people, some go with partners, others use the night as an opportunity for a girls night out. Whatever takes your fancy, it’s great to know that while having a great time, you are also supporting the PTA and therefore the school and your child.

Tickets are available via the following link, which you will also find on our Facebook page.

The 2014/15 school year has been very successful for the PTA, not in the least because we have welcomed a number of new members and are now 18 strong. All of the members are very committed to the work the PTA does and it is fantastic to spread the heavy workload with so many people.

Numbers for the Christmas Dance were up again from last year and our craft show in November is going from strength to strength, with visitor numbers rising and more crafters aware of the quality of this event. It is now known as one of the larger events in the area and certainly very well organised.

Communication with parents has improved greatly since setting up a Facebook page and other new routes of publicising events are being investigated.
