“Nothing to be Sneezed at”

The Wallace High School has just launched their Winter 2015 influenza vaccination programme for staff, in partnership with Boots.

The innovative initiative, now in its third year, is generously funded by the School’s Board of Trustees with almost one hundred members of staff from the Clonevin Park school availing of the scheme.

Principal Deborah O’Hare commented, “I am delighted that so many of our staff have availed of this opportunity. The vaccination programme offers some level of protection from the winter flu and subsequently reduces absence and teacher cover. Here in Wallace, staff are in contact with hundreds of people every day and we have definitely seen the benefit of this programme over the past two winters. Staff welfare is central to life at WHS, with 13 staff taking part in the PAL (QUB) exercise scheme, as well as informative workshops on mindfulness and life/work balance being offered as part of our regular in-service training.”

Alan Irvine, Pharmacy Manager of Boots at Sprucefield added, “Staff at Wallace have certainly recognized the ease of taking part in this programme. The online voucher scheme is easy to process and staff can simply pop in at any convenient time to our pharmacy at Sprucefield and have the flu vaccine administered by the Pharmacist.. I would encourage anyone keen to find out about our Winter vaccine programme to call in for a chat with any of our Pharmacy staff.”
