Paul Ormonde Charity Fund Raiser

A capacity audience packed the Assembly Hall at Wallace High for a Saint Patrick’s night extravaganza. Compered by Keith Lunn, a former deputy Head Boy of Wallace the audience was treated to a display of Irish dancing by world champion Naimh Peacock with musical contributions from Chloe Webb, Patrick Gardiner, Jonny Willis and Danny Troughton. A brief interlude for the awarding of spot prizes was followed by the main event of the night the Paul Ormonde illusion show.

Paul wowed his audience with a combination of large scale illusions and traditional sleight of hand tricks. Particular highlights of the evening were the zig zag lady and the head chopper with Year 14 pupil Tom Haggan bravely stepping up to the stage to put his head on the block!

The evening was in aid of the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children and The Briagh Hull Memorial Fund. Friends of Briagh have been making and selling jewellery for the Memorial Fund and sales were brisk on Saturday evening.

To date over £1,800 has been raised and the show’s organisers are hopeful that they may be able to cover all the show’s costs by gifts donated to the cause. Star of the show Paul Ormonde McCabe paid tribute to his long time assistant Lisa Whitcroft , “Without Lisa there would be no illusion show, she is a very skilled stage performer”.  A long time supporter of the cancer fund Paul pronounced himself delighted with the capacity
crowd and the warmth of their participation.
