Pumpkin Fest – Great Success!

Written by | News, Preparatory & Pre-Prep

Wallace Prep held their first ever spook-tacular pumpkin festival on Thursday 28th October.

The wet weather didn’t stop a large crowd of Ghosts and Ghouls who came to support the event with pupils, parents and staff in their best fancy dress to capture a festive feel.

It was a fun-filled evening for everyone, with more than 200 prep pupils, parents and teachers attending and enjoying many traditional festive activities.

There was a display of almost 150 wonderful pumpkin lanterns, which lit up the grounds of the Clonevin Park School.

The Big Scoop

The PTA had generously provided each pupil with a pumpkin and with the assistance of some talented parent helpers, these were scooped and carved for the magical display.

There was a warm spirit of Halloween fun on the eventful evening made possible by the efforts of the sixth form students, parent helpers, teachers and PTA members involved.

The school assembly hall had been transformed with spooky decorations and festive treats.

Remember the gh’oul times!

That evening the parents, teachers, children and PTA gathered for pumpkin soup, punch and swamp juice. Activities for the children included bobbing for apples, spooky makeovers at a ghostly beauty parlour, playing “name that spooky tune” and “wrap the mummy”.

Aine Elmore a parent member of the PTA was delighted with the success of the evening. “This was an incredible event for the schools community to relax after a busy start to the academic year and raise funds.”

Mrs Corrine Latham, Head of the Prep Department, thanked the PTA for their continued support: “The feedback from our pupils has been incredible and I hope this may become a much anticipated annual event.”

The PTA is now busy preparing for its annual Christmas Dinner Dance on Friday 9th December. Further information is available by emailing pta@wallacehigh.net.
