Wallace Win Web Awards

suia.gifThis academic year has seen The Wallace High School take to the internet with a new look website, but to top the year off the school has won both special and merit awards in the 2003 “Ireland School and University Internet Awards”.

The Merit Award, won by Philip Thompson for part of his GCSE ICT project was well deserved and highlights the talent Philip has for both computing and web design. The special award went to “Ignite”, the highly successful Young Enterprise Company which was set up by Lower Sixth pupils, were awarded with a domain name of their choice and a full year’s hosting package.

This accolade adds to Ignite’s success in this year’s Young Enterprise Southern Region awards where they lifted awards for Best use of ICT, Best Presentation, Best Company Secretary and Best overall Company. They enjoyed continued success at the Northern Ireland Finals held in Belfast’s City Hall, with Katherine McCreary lifting the award for Best Company Secretary.

Congratulations go to the entire company, in particular the ICT Director Connor Coleman for his innovative work. The group win a domain name of their choice and a full years hosting package.
