Wallace’s legacy charity Asha continues to bring hope to Delhi slums

Written by | Charity, News

Like Ireland, India is battling Covid-19 and the message is the same there as here. Stay safe. Stay home.

The message is the same. The circumstances could not be more different.

We have comfortable homes and when we go out for permitted exercise we can observe safe and social distancing.

What if staying home means living with all the members of your family in one room, with no running water and poor sanitation?

Our legacy charity Asha ( the name means hope in Hindi) is doing life-saving work in India, handing out food parcels to the poorest communities in Delhi. Lisburn is (metaphorically ) a million miles from Delhi but our school’s motto of Esperance links us through a belief we can be bringers of hope.

A donation of £12 will provide a food parcel for one family.

You can donate to Asha on the link below to the Friends of Asha page. If you would like to donate to a particular project which originated with an idea from our former staff member ( Mrs T) please state Food for 100 in the comments box. The hope is to provide 100 bags from Northern Ireland.

( We have been overwhelmed by the amazing donations to our visor project and applaud those who plan to participate in the 2.6 appeal for a charity of choice.  We appreciate these are very challenging times for many. Equally, we know that many readers of the school social media will be interested in hearing of this work. If you do think you can help the charity will be immensely grateful.)
