Year 8 Adventure Day 2026

Our Year 8 pupils recently enjoyed Adventure Day 2026 at Crawfordsburn Scout Centre, accompanied by the Year 8 Pastoral Team. The day provided the perfect opportunity for pupils to spend time together outside the classroom, develop new friendships and embrace a range of exciting outdoor challenges. Blessed with enthusiastic participation and plenty of energy, the day was filled with fun, teamwork and memorable experiences from start to finish.

Teamwork, Friendship and Fun

The excitement began long before pupils arrived at Crawfordsburn, with plenty of laughter and conversation on the journey there. Throughout the day, pupils had the chance to get to know one another better, strengthening existing friendships while forming many new ones.

A variety of team-building activities encouraged pupils to work together, communicate effectively and support each other as they tackled different challenges. It was wonderful to see everyone embracing the spirit of teamwork and making the most of the opportunity to connect with their peers in a relaxed outdoor setting.

Taking on New Challenges

Adventure was at the heart of the day, with pupils enthusiastically taking part in activities including axe throwing, archery, an assault course, climbing, abseiling and bushcraft. Many pupils stepped outside their comfort zones and demonstrated impressive resilience and determination as they took on unfamiliar challenges. Whether aiming for the bullseye in archery, navigating obstacles on the assault course or conquering heights while climbing and abseiling, Year 8 pupils approached each activity with enthusiasm and a willingness to try something new.

Outdoor Learning and Lasting Memories

Spending time outdoors provided an excellent opportunity for pupils to develop confidence, independence and problem-solving skills while enjoying the natural surroundings of Crawfordsburn Scout Centre. The day was a tremendous success and created many lasting memories for both pupils and staff. We are extremely grateful to our Senior Prefect Team for their fantastic support throughout the day and to the staff at Crawfordsburn Scout Centre for delivering such engaging activities and ensuring everyone had an enjoyable experience. It was a wonderful way to begin the year, and we look forward to seeing the friendships, confidence and teamwork developed during the day continue to flourish throughout Year 8.

Reflecting on an exciting day out, Head of Year 8, Mrs Rogers, commented:

‘Year 8 have made a fantastic start to their time at Wallace! From making new friends and finding their feet on Induction Day, to embracing new challenges on Adventure Day, they have thrown themselves into life at big school with enthusiasm and confidence. It has been wonderful to see them settling in, building new friendships and getting to grips with all that Year 8 has to offer. We are so proud of them already and look forward to seeing their achievements in the year ahead!’
