21404.gifThe Wallace High School is involved with an exciting Arts Project sponsored by First Trust Bank and Arts & Business Pairing Scheme with artist Alberta Park to develop an exterior stone/slate mosaic with the flags of the inner courtyard outside the Cyril Hinds Sixth Form Centre. Planting of tress and creepers will further enhance the work.

Alberta Park is a local award winning artist/ceramicist who has produced many pieces of community artwork, including The Lisburn Leisureplex swimming pool mosaic and Royal Victoria Hospital ceramic wall panels. She has recently exhibited her work in the The Island Arts Centre and further examples of her work are to be found in the permanent collection of places such as Fermanagh Country Museum and The Crafts Council of Ireland.

The venture will involve a significant number of pupils to assist in the construction. All pupils studying Art and Design in their normal timetable over the period of the project will assist Alberta as necessary.

The Art and Design department also intend to create a journal of the event with the pupils involved being acknowledged, space for personal comments, plus some photographic input from lower sixth pupils.
