7605.jpgThe Wallace High School Second XI progressed to the semi final stage of the Duke of Abercorn Cup with a 6 run victory over BRA at Roughfort last Saturday morning.

Wallace batted first and were led superbly by skipper Steven Holdsworth (22) and vice captain Michael Ritchie (21). Both players showed excellent shot selection, timing and running between the wickets. Patrick Calow (14) added impetus to the innings in dreadful conditions. Wallace reached 73 ALLOUT in 19.5 overs. In reply, BRA lost wickets from the start with Patrick Calow 3 for 15 and Thomas Jones 2 for 2 the main wicket takers.

Steven Holdsworth stumped the last batsman with a fine piece of wicket keeping to help Wallace win a tense, low scoring match by 6 runs. The First XI Edie Shield match against Sullivan Upper was abandoned, due to the inclement weather.
