Golf Success

29705.jpgThe Wallace High School won the NASUWT Ulster Schools Junior Golf Championship last week. Twenty one schools from across Northern Ireland took part in this hotly contested event, with Wallace emerging victorious with a best three cards from four of gross 88 points.

Year 11 pupil Daniel Doherty won the best individual score – his success being remarkable in that he started with a “ding” -no points at the first hole, yet he managed to accumulate 33 gross points with a handicap of 10, making him 7 points below handicap. His handicap has now dropped from 14 to 8 in a matter of weeks, testament to his growing talent and impressive commitment.

Other team members also enjoyed success, with Captain Josh Clements (27 points), Aaron Darragh (23) and Jamie Clements (28). Second place in the Championship was Dunluce School , Bushmills with RBAI placed third.

Teacher John McCormick commented, ” Massereene Golf Club presented a course in excellent condition and deserve our thanks. I’m delighted with the success of the Wallace team.”
