Hockey Update

281095.jpgThe Wallace High School U14 XI Girls’ hockey team welcomed Deacons School from Peterborough, England on Tuesday 25th October. Deacons’ were on a five day tour of the province.

The match was played on the superb new water based pitch at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club. It took the visitors a while to settle on this surface and Wallace took advantage by scoring two quick goals from Tanya Surgeon and Sophie McClean.

The Wallace team played a good passing game and were able to score a further two goals by half time. However in the second half Deacons adjusted to the pitch and Wallace goalkeeper Amy Stevenson was required to make some good saves.

The final result was 4-0 to Wallace. Tanya Surgeon was awarded player of the match, having scored two goals. The English visitors enjoyed the experience and have invited the Wallace girls over for a return visit.
