Mock Interviews

Wallace High School Upper Sixth pupils last week had the opportunity to take part in mock interviews, organised by the Careers Department. Over forty people from various professions including Medicine, Business and Law conducted the thirty minute interviews before providing the pupils with detailed feedback.

Assistant Head of Careers, Margaret Mitchell, who coordinated the event, explained, “Our Upper Sixth pupils completed their university entrances applications recently and many will be invited to attend selection interviews in the coming weeks. The mock interview process encourages reflection and preparation. I am delighted that so many of our pupils availed of this superb opportunity and I would like to thank our interviewers who gave of their time and expertise so generously.

We at Wallace recognise that they have very busy lives and we greatly value the very useful guidance they offer our pupils.”
Upper Sixth pupil Katie Reid, who hopes to study Law next year, went on, ” I found the mock interview experience very worthwhile and the feedback given by my interview panel has really boosted my confidence.”

Head of Careers at Wallace, Paul Beaton, concluded,” This process is invaluable for our pupils in terms of their university applications and indeed their futures. It comes at a pivotal time in our Careers schedule here in Wallace. Having completed Work Experience during Lower Sixth and visit several University Open Days earlier this term, the mock interviews offer a very realistic glimpse into the rigours of an interview and I would like to add my thanks to all those who assisted us last week.”
