Success in Intermediate Maths

30303a.gifWallace has a history of success in the UK Intermediate Maths Challenge and this year is no different. The UK Mathematics Trust organises national mathematics competitions in the UK for 11-18 year old school pupils. These range from popular “mass” Maths Challenges to the selection and training of the International Mathematical Olympiad team (IMO).

The UKMT Challenges are designed to stimulate interest in maths in large numbers of pupils. The three levels cover the age range 11-18 and together they attract almost half a million entries each year from over 4,000 schools.

Wallace High School’s Head of Mathematics Mr Bill Wilson, along with three third year pupils who scored exceptionally highly in the recent Uk Mathematics Challenge.

Graeme Greenfield and Simon Toland were both invited to compete in the European Kangarroo Challenge whilst Jamie Humphries, the top scorer in the school, has now progressed to the Olympiad organised by the Mathematics Trust.
