291104.jpgThirty five Wallace High School pupils recently spent the weekend in Whitepark Bay Youth Hostel on the North Coast on the School’s annual Senior Scripture Union trip.

The pupils, aged 15- 18, were accompanied by teachers Mr Simpson, Mrs Foster, Miss Spiers and Mrs Wilkninson. The guest speaker for the weekend was Jules Hamilton who has worked extensively with the very successful Summer Madness events.

Jules led several workshops based around the 1st Corinthian verse, “There are three things that will endure – faith , hope and love, and the greatest of these is love.” Fifth year pupil Jamie Humphries commented, “Jules’ sessions were both thought provoking and challenging. He spoke in a very down to earth fashion and we were truly blessed to have him as our speaker. ”

The weekend also had a very strong musical element with praise sessions being led by pupils Nathan Jess, Peter McAuley and Michael Hendron, accompanied by Mrs Wilkinson.

Touch rugby on the beach and a trip to a local leisure centre were also enjoyed by the Lisburn teenagers. 16 year old Jenna Boyd concluded,” The whole weekend was an incredile experience – we all learnt something about ourselves and grew closer to God. We’d really like to thank our teachers for giving up their weekend for us. ”
