Hockey Pitch Update

Written by | News, Sport

It was with great delight that we learned of Sport NI’s final approval of approximately £250,000 to complement funding from The Trustees to build a new Astroturf hockey pitch with floodlights on the current footprint of the all weather hockey pitch located adjacent to the 1st XV rugby pitch.

Wallace High Astro Turf

Work started in late July and this new facility will mean that an unprecedented number of sporting fixtures, both rugby and hockey, can take place on our grounds which will doubtless only grow further the significant successes achieved in both sports.

Wallace has always been very proud of our association with Lisnagarvey Hockey Club and have benefited greatly from the excellent resources the club provides. This important relationship will continue and we recognise fully the significant contribution the Club has made and continues to make in the development of our elite players and recreational players.

The hockey pitch will be a sand dressed full sized hockey pitch. The carpet will be blue with a green run off. It is a very high specification surface, very compact and with a low level of sand requirement as the surface is so dense. The site around the pitch will be fully landscaped with surround fencing, team dug outs, fully lit pathways and floodlights.
