Charity Readathon Success

Written by | News

Pupils from Years 8 and 9 at The Wallace High School recently participated in a “Readathon” where they had to read two books of their own choice and then complete a series of tasks relating to the books read. In the process they raised a superb £5013 for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children.

Commenting on the event, librarian Claire O’Neill said: “This is a fantastic achievement and I would like to congratulate all the pupils in Years 8 and 9 who took part during their library periods and also during their Easter holidays. The Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children is a great charity and one which we are always happy to support.”

Year 8 pupil Adam Heaps added: “The Readathon itself was really enjoyable and the fact that we raised so much for such a great charity makes it even more worthwhile.”
