The Richard Wallace Trust is holding a very special evening next week in The Wallace High School. Thursday 23 November will see Trustees and friends join together for “La Bonne Soirée”, an evening of music, entertainment and enlightenment celebrating the cultural legacy of Sir Richard Wallace through an exploration of the sights and sounds of 19th century Lisburn and Paris.
The Soiree will begin at 7.30pm with a drinks reception followed by live music celebrating the songs of Irish Tenor John McCormick and other Victorian pieces some of which are connected to the Wallace story.
Guests will have the opportunity to learn about the progress of The Richard Wallace Trust which was formed almost two years ago, before browsing through an exciting new display of visual art by Wallace High School pupils inspired by 19th century Parisian accessories and perfume.
Following a short talk by guest speaker Mr Martyn Angelsea, Keeper of Fine Art at the Ulster Museum, entitled “The Super Collector, Sir Richard Wallace: the Wallace Collection” the evening will conclude with a finger buffet. Chairperson of The Richard Wallace Trust, Anthea McWilliams, explained, “We in Lisburn recognise the generosity and importance of Sir Richard Wallace “his legacy of philanthropy lives on , not just in our city, but also in Paris where his many fountains still exist and in London with the magnificent Wallace Collection.
