Class of 1996 Reunion

41006.jpgThe Wallace High School Class of 1996 recently attended a reunion to mark the decade which has passed since they left the Clonevin Park School. The event, organised by former pupils Kathy McMaster, Jill Moffett and Sarah Small was attended by around half the Year Group.

Jill commented,”We were delighted that so many people were able to attend. Many of our former classmates had travelled considerable distances to be at the reunion, with several flying back to Lisburn from England and Scotland. We were also delighted that one person actually made the effort to come back from Singapore for the occasion!”

Upon arrival at The Beechlawn Hotel, the former pupils were invited to fill in “School-day surveys” which formed part of a humorous awards ceremony which followed a drinks reception and buffet.

Sarah went on, “The DJ Richard Hogg made such an effort to play music from the 90s, we really felt we were back at a school disco on the night! The Beechlawn staff were also very helpful and thanks must go to former teachers Miss Ramsey and Mr Green and to Miss Bill for their help in supplying class lists.”

Kathy added, “We’d also like to thank all the Wallace teachers who came along to the reunion. It was wonderful having the opportunity to reminisce and it was very clear from the surveys completed on the night that everyone has very fond memories of their time at Wallace. These included School trips, Christmas Pie, inspirational teachers and of course the formation of lifelong friendships.”

Sarah concluded, “We’re happy to say that the evening also raised several hundred pounds for charity. We’ve all really enjoyed being part of the organising committee and would certainly encourage other year groups to take a trip down memory lane. Hopefully the class of 1996 can get together in 2016 for a twenty year reunion.”
