Former Wallace Pupils sign for Ulster

On the day that they signed their new Ulster rugby contracts, Chris Henry and Ian Whitten paid a surprise visit to their old school, Wallace High School, to catch up with their former rugby coaches and also meet current players within the school.

Two days after the visit, Chris captained Ulster to a famous European Cup win against Edinburgh and is now looking forward to this weeks tussle with Bath in their final European pool game, with qualification for the quarter finals still up for grabs. There was also good news for another former pupil as Nevin Spence was awarded his first Ulster contract on the same day.

Current 1st XV captain Kyle McCall was understandably thrilled to meet the two players. “All rugby players in the school look up to Chris and Ian as real role models and would love to follow in their footsteps into professional rugby. They both talked about the hard work needed to get there and this proved an inspiring message to the players as we continue our preparations for the Schools’ Cup in the coming weeks.”
