Katie, a 12 year old pupil at The Wallace High School recently received her certificate for achieving an A * grade in her GCSE Spanish. Having lived in Spain for five years she took on the challenge in her first year at school and, helped by teacher Marie Cherry, achieved her top grade.

Katie is understandably proud of her achievement: “I really enjoyed the challenge of putting my linguistic skills to the test and was delighted to achieve an A*.”

Principal Deborah O’Hare congratulated Katie on behalf of the school: “We are delighted that Katie has had the opportunity to sit her GCSE Spanish in her first year at school. To achieve an A* in Yr 8 in a GCSE is an outstanding achievement highlighting her natural talent and her excellent work ethic. The school has recently launched a “Gifted and Talented” programme of additional study to stretch and provide relevant courses to meet the needs of a significant proportion of our school population.”
